Day 4 - Sunday - 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze

Open AA - The Open AA Devils are Provincial Champions.
Barb Bautista scored 3 minutes into overtime to beat top seeded and previously undefeated Cambridge 6-5 to win the Gold Medal. 2 Goals by Jodi Jensen and one each by Katie Allen and Kim Beach had given the Devils a 4-3 lead, the 4th by Beach with just a minute 40 to play in the game. Cambridge called a time out and with the Devils trying hard to hang on, managed to score just before the buzzer to tie the game and take it to O/T. Not to be denied, the Devils did not wilt and now advance to the National Championships in Waterloo beginning 29 March. Wow! Garnering assists for GCRA were Melissa Lauder with two, and singletons by Colleen Hagan, Barb Bautista and Katie Allen. Earlier in the morning they defeated Sudbury 4-1 with a flurry of goals in the first period of the Semi-Final game against Sudbury. Lauder, Dominique Frechette, Allen and Jensen scored for the Devils, with Jensen's coming late in the game to salt away the victory. Way to go Devils!

Belle AA - The Belle AA Devils won the Bronze Medal this morning in an exciting 3-4 overtime loss against Waterloo. Allison Jack scored her second goal of the game with just 30 seconds to go to send the game into overtime. Genevieve Dorval notched the other Devil's goal. It took ten minutes of O/T before Waterloo ended the green shirts dream of another provincial championship.

Junior AA - The Junior Devils won the Silver Medal this afternoon, losing in an action packed 4-5 loss against Eastern Region rival Ottawa, who bring home the Gold. Scoring for the Devils were: Elise Desjardins, France Lalonde, Lindsay Armstrong and Genevieve Bisson in the heartbreaking loss. Earlier this morning a goal by Natasha Cote had given the Junior Devils won a thrilling overtime victory over Pickering 6-5 to advance to the final. Genevieve Bisson led the way with 4 goals and two assists in this huge win.

Petite AA - The Petite AA's bring home the Silver Medal to Gloucester-Cumberland. The Devils lost a shocker 3-2 to Cambridge in the Gold Medal Game at 12:15 Sunday morning. Goal Scorers are not known at the moment but will be published later.

Day 3 - Saturday

Tween AA - Our Tweens lost twice on Saturday, the first a close one to Elora-Fergus by the score of 2-0, and the second 4-0 to Mississauga, putting their record at 2 wins, 4 losses, and out of the medals. However by checking the scores you will see that they gave an outstanding account of themselves this weekend.

The 4 and 0 Belle AA's met the 3 and 1 Whitby Belles in an early morning match. Both left the arena sporting 4 - 1 win loss records as Whitby claimed a close 3-2 victory over the Devils. The Belles also lost their afternoon game to Ottawa 3-2. They finished in a three way tie for 2nd Place and by virtue of goals for and against were declared to be in 2nd place. The other two teams, Waterloo won a mini game at 7:30 Sunday Morning to decide 3rd place. They now play the Devils in the Bronze Medal Game with the winner advancing to the Championship Game against undefeated Ottawa.

The Petites continued their winning ways, eking out a 3-2 win over Mississauga this morning and soundly defeating Nepean 6-0 this afternoon. This leaves them undefeated in the round robin at 6 - 0. Using the Page System of Playoffs, they played and defeated Cambridge 8-3 who finished 2nd in the round-robin in a playoff. The Devils now go straight to the Gold Medal Game. Cambridge beat Stratford in the 3rd vs 4th playoff game, and now face the Devils for the Championship.

GCRA's Open AA's lost to top seeded Cambridge 4-1 to even their won-loss record at 2 - 2. They finished 3rd in the Round Robin. Using the Page System for the Playoffs this matched them up in the 3rd vs 4th game against Waterloo. They were very successful in this game winning 9 to 5 to advance to the Semi-Final Sunday morning at 11:05 against Sudbury, the loser of the 1st vs 2nd Game (Cambridge vs Sudbury). Cambridge moves directly to the final in the afternoon vs the winner of the Semi-Final.

The Juniors lost to Ottawa 5-2 this afternoon in the last round robin game. The Junior Division is also using the Page System of playoffs and as such with Ottawa finishing first in the round-robin and the Devils in second, they had a playoff at 8:10 Saturday evening. Ottawa won 2-1 and advanced directly to the final. The Devils will play Pickering the winner of the 3rd vs 4th game between Pickering and Cambridge, for the right to advance to the Semi-final tomorrow morning.

Day 2 - Friday

Gloucester-Cumberland Belle, Petite and Junior AA's remain undefeated after the second day of games at the Provincial AA Championships. The Petites blanked Ottawa 7-0 in the morning and Cambridge 5 to 3 in the afternoon game, while the Juniors overran Pickering 8-3 Friday morning and Cambridge 4-2 in the afternoon.

Our Tween Devils lost two one goal games. The morning game to Eastern Region rival, Nepean 2-1, and the afternoon game, an overtime 3-2 loss to Whitby bringing their record to 2-2. GCRA's Belles defeated Forest 7-2 early in the afternoon and Mississauga 8 - 1 later that evening. The Open AA's improved their record to 2 and 1 with a 5-2 victory over Pickering in mid-afternoon followed by a 8-4 victory over Waterloo in the evening.

Day 1 - Thursday

It was a great first day for the Devils at the Ontario Provincial AA Championships. The Belles, Juniors, Tweens and Petites all won their first two games of the Provincial Championships. The Open AA Devils tried hard to make it a "perfect" day. They lost a hard fought 6-4 match to Sudbury, with Sudbury's last goal being an empty-netter as the Devils pulled their goalie to try for the tie to send them into overtime.

The Tweens beat Eastern Region arch rival Ottawa 3-1 in their first encounter and then outlasted London 2-1 to finish the day undefeated. The Petites opened with a 4-0 win over Stratford, followed by a 9-2 victory against the host team, London. The Belles won a 2-1 thriller over Kitchener in their first game and poured in the goals in an 11-6 matchup over Waterloo. The Juniors knocked off Waterloo 7-0 in their first game and Nepean 10-3 in their second.
