Dear The Gloucester Ringette Association:
I wish to thank you for awarding me the Annual Gloucester
Ringette Association Scholarship.
This award gave me the chance to continue playing ringette
during my studies. This being a difficult task, so far from
home and Gloucester. Fortunately, Sudbury has a ringette
association and I was able to participate at the Open AA
level.
I attended Laurentian University to study Human Kinetics
in French. This is an academically strong program that allows
one to explore the world of sport and physical education.
I had a great time at school and playing ringette made the
transition much easier. Thank you for giving me that opportunity.
Sincerely,
Courtney Miller

The Gloucester Ringette Association:
I am writing as the recipient
of the Gloucester Ringette Association Scholarship to thank
you for your generous contribution. The scholarship was very
helpful and paid for all of my books for first semester, leaving
me with an outstanding $1.26.
University life does take some adjusting, and with the assistance
of the scholarship I was able to devote much more time and
effort to my studies this semester. Now that I have had a
chance to adapt to school life, I am considering a part time
job for next semester.
I am entering the faculty of Education and Kinesiology. My
future goal is to teach physical education to high school
students. I am also considering the field of sports medicine,
but due to a physical disability from a sports injury, this
may not be an option.
At the present time I am not playing ringette due to an extreme
lack of transportation, although I am hoping to play next
year. With the possibility of car pooling, I have volunteered
to teach skiing to children with disabilities. I feel this
is an excellent opportunity to help others, and am greatly
looking forward to it. I am a member of the ski club and outdoor
recreation club, which has given me the chance to meet new
people. I am hoping to become a resident assistant (R.A.)
for next year, as this would be a good way to get involved.
This would also give me a chance to introduce the same positive
atmosphere to new students that I was provided as a first
year student.
Receiving this scholarship has given me the personal encouragement
to take on tasks with a great deal of enthusiasm. I feel more
confident in my studies and in everyday situation. Thank you
for assisting me with the opportunity of higher education.
Being a recipient of the Gloucester Ringette Association Scholarship
has contributed to making me a confident individual, and I
am very proud to have accepted this scholarship.
Sincerely,
Laura Pitt |
