Happy New Year!
This edition of the newsletter is dedicated to the Gloucester Ringette Association players who, in addition to maintaining very busy game and practice schedules also volunteer their time every Saturday morning to teach our little ones how to skate and play the game. Hats off to these young leaders! The Gloucester Ringette Tournament - February 19 - 22
Well, its almost time for the Gloucester Ringette Tournament!!
In the near future, your team will be approached to commit to keeping the clock or scoresheet for games during the tournament. This is an important responsibility that forms part of your participation in our tournament. Each team is expected to meet its commitments in this regard. Delays caused by the absence of a minor official in one game can cause expensive delays and disruption to every game that follows.
Although every effort is made to assign teams to games that they are involved in, it is impossible to do so in every case. Please accept that your team will be asked to do some games in other divisions (with the knowledge that each team will be asked to do its share).
Please note that volunteers are still required for such tasks as troubleshooting and spelling off of other volunteers. Many thanks to those who have already volunteered to help! Please contact Joanne Dearden at 741-6143 if you can help us out.
Further to our request in our last newsletter - if you have a cellular telephone that you can make available to troubleshooters and tournament staff, please contact Dave Bennett (830-9124) as soon as possible. All costs incurred by tournament staff will be reimbursed to you.
Gloucester Ringette Association Scholarship
Once again, GRA is inviting applications for the Gloucester Ringette Association Scholarship of $500.
The scholarship is available to students entering university or community college in the fall of 1998 on a full-time basis.
Players currently in their final year of secondary school may submit their names for consideration by sending a completed application to the association before June 30, 1998. The scholarship committee grants the award in August of each year - it is contingent upon proof of acceptance at a post secondary institution.
Congratulations go out to Kim Thompson and Melissa Plunkett who shared last year’s scholarship.
To obtain an application call Joanne Dearden at 741-6143.
Looking for Summer Employment?
Gloucester Ringette Association is inviting applications from players/others wishing to be considered for positions at the ringette camps that are held in August each year. In 1998 there will be two summer camps, the evening camp, shinny ringette, and power skating. Please contact Dave Bennett @ 830-9124 to be provided/mailed an application.

Registrar Needed
We are looking for someone:
This volunteer position has the responsibility for receiving and recording all registrations forms in the fall of each year, and for providing our registration information to the Ontario Ringette Association. If you can help please contact Phil Arner at 741-0734.
Equipment Manager Required for the 1998/99 Season
We would like to take this opportunity to thank J.P. Gravelle for helping us out this year as Equipment Manager. It has been much appreciated.
We are in need of someone to take on this task for next year. J. P. would be pleased to show you the ropes sometime before the end of the season, so that you would be prepared when the sign-out occurs in the fall of 1998.
Please contact any of the Association executive if you can help.
