2004 Provincial AA Champions

The Junior AA's won the right to go to Calgary, winning the Gold Medal at the Ontario Provincial Ringette Championships over Whitby 4-3.

Elise Desjardins opened the scoring for the GCRA Devils five minutes into the game. Whitby answered back two minutes later followed less than a minute after that by Devil sharpshooter Desjardins with her second of the game to take a 2-1 Devil lead.Carolyn Cowan put the Devils up 3-2 less than three minutes into the second period. Natasha Lowe gave the GCRA girls a little breathing room six minutes into the half. It would be needed as Whitby stormed back with a goal just two minutes later. With one minute to go in the match Whiby climbed to within one to make it 4-3. It got even more exciting when GCRA took a penalty with 27 ticks left on the clock. Whitby called a time out and planned their play to try to send the game into overtime. The Devils withstood the challenge and held on to their one goal lead, winning the gold medal and the trip to the Canadian Ringette Championships in April.

To get to the Championship game the Devils defeated Whitby 5-3 in the 1-2 Semi Final. On the final day of round-robin competition they had an easy time with Ajax winning 5-1 and 4-1 over Nepean. This gave them an undefeated round robin performances and a birth in the 2nd vs 1st playoff game. GCRA now goes directly to the Championship game and Whitby plays the winner of the other quarter final. Scoring for the Devils in the morning game were Lindsay Armstrong with 2, Elise Desjardins, Natasha Lowe, and Katie Spack all with one each. Scorers for the second game were Spack, Desjardins, Armstrong, and Carolyn Cowan

Junior AA Devils at the Nationals

GCRA Junior AA Devils representing Ontario at the Nationals, won a thrilling 5- 3 final round-robin game Friday morning to put themselves into a tie for third place with BC. It was the self same BC team that they had to defeat to raise themselves into third spot and a Mini Game matchup with guess who... Yes BC. The Devils played their hearts out all week long losing the Mini-Game to BC 2-0, and the second of those two into an empty net with a half second to play.  Congratulations on all your hard work ladies.
