The Ontario Belles from Gloucester lost 6 - 5 to Alberta in a heart wrenching thriller on the final Saturday afternoon of the 2000 Canadian Ringette Championships. Alberta scored 1 minute and 19 seconds into overtime play, to secure the victory.   Alta had scored less than two minutes into the game. Colleen Hagan evened the score four minutes later assisted by Erin Lepage and Katie Allen, only to have Alta take a 2 - 1 lead just a minute after that.

The Devils fought back hard with Leslie Jimmo tying the score half way through the first period assisted by Allen and Julie Bosse.   Alta took the lead 3 - 2 with 5 minutes to play in the first period.   That was the half time score, Alta 3 - Gloucester 2.

Leslie Jimmo scored to even the score once again 5 and a half minutes into the second half.   Alberta equal to the task took a 4 - 3 lead again just 27 seconds later.   Erin Lepage and Katie Allen took turns scoring and assisting to give Ontario a 5 - 4 lead with just 8 minutes 12 seconds to play in the game.   However as was the case all afternoon... when Gloucester scored, Alberta countered quickly.
