Player Release Policy – First Year of the Merged
Gloucester-Cumberland Ringette Association

Players that were released from the Cumberland Ringette Association to another association for the 2001/2002 season will be given the opportunity to obtain a release from the Gloucester – Cumberland Ringette Association to the same association for the 2002/2003 season and continuously until such time that they become grandfathered1 to that association under the Eastern Region release rules.

However, should the special release process not be continuous from one year to the next, the player will be subject to the regular release rules as would any other member of the Gloucester – Cumberland Ringette Association2.

[1] The release rules provide that any player who has been released from their home association to another association for three consecutive seasons is considered a member of the other association, and is no longer a member of their home association.

[2] For example – in the 2001/02 season Jane Dow was released to Association X.  In 2002/03 this player will be permitted, if she wishes, a release to Association X for the 2002/03 and 2003/04 seasons.  However, if that player is released to Association X for 2002/03 but then chooses to play in the Gloucester-Cumberland Association in 2003/04 – this player will not be grandfathered, and will be given no preferred right to releases in future years – and will be subject to the normal rules.  The same will apply if a player chooses not to avail themselves of this special release privilege in the 2002/03 season.
