Player Position Policy - Approved by a motion of the GCRA Executive August, 2007

Gloucester-Cumberland Ringette Association (GCRA)
Player Position Policy

Policy Background

Typically, Competitive teams consist of 11 to 13 Skaters and 2 Goalies, the skaters often vary positions to address the needs of the team. Families accept the various issues such as ice time that come with their daughter's position and team roster, increasing the number of skaters on a team negatively affects individual ice times and player participation.

Policy - for Competitive Teams

Skaters and Goaltenders will tryout and eventually be assigned to a team as a Skater or Goaltender. Players will maintain their assigned position on the team for the season, this includes practices, exhibition games, regular season games, tournaments, preliminaries and provincials. Goaltenders are not permitted to play as a Skater unless the team has less than nine Skaters, Skaters are not permitted to play as a Goaltender unless both regular Goaltenders are absent.

Any variance from this policy requires prior Executive approval.
