A Devils Bring Home The Gold from Oshawa Tournament!
Through their perseverance and hard work, the Tween A Devils
won the Gold Medal at the Oshawa Tournament beating out
West Ottawa in the last few minutes of the game. Way to
go girls!

| GCRA Belle A Devils win Gold
at Provincials
Our GCRA Belle A Devils won the Gold Medal
at the U19 McCarthy Division at the 2011 Provincial A Championships
this past weekend, 3 - 6 March..
The Devils defeated Valley
East in the Semi-Finals 4-3 to move on to the Championship
Game. There they soundly beat Exeter 6-3 to win the Gold.
Congratulations Girls. Well
Done!

Championship Day Results
Congratulations to the GCRA Devils Junior B2-3, Novice C
Team 1, and Tween A Teams for winning Gold at the NCRRL
Championship Day Finals. It was the culmination of League
Playoffs for these teams.
GCRA Tween A were 4 - 3 winners over Gatineau. and
GCRA Junior B2 Team 3 were 9 - 4 winners over U.O.V.
GCRA Novice C Team 1 Red were 3 - 2 winners over U.O.V.
6 GCRA teams won Silver Medals
at the League Champîonship Day. They were:
GCRA Belle A's,

GCRA Belle B Team 1 Blue Division,
GCRA Tween B Team 2 Red Division,

After finishing as runners up in two
previous tournaments, including last week’s provincial
qualifier, the Gloucester Cumberland Devils Junior A team
finally won gold on Sunday playing in their home tournament
at the Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex.

The year was
a full one and the girls had a great time. The year started
with Golfing and a BBQ, went to Bowling, then a Hell’s
Kitchen X-mass dinner, Billiards and ended in the teams
final party attended by all parents, sisters and brothers
as the team curled and partied at the Cumberland Curling
Club.
Oh yeah the girls played 61 games this year, collected 5
medals, 2 gold and 3 silver with four of the medals in the
second half. It was a busy year and a great year for the
team as they grew from the beginning and progressed to one
of the strongest teams at their level. We all look forward
to the coming season, another chance to play only at different
levels and for some different age groups in this great sport.

Ice Breakers
A big congratulations
for a great season to the Petite C #1 Ice Breakers! A real
tournament team, the girls were very successful this year,
winning Gold at the CORA tournament and Silver at Pierrefonds,
and finishing third at the GCRA tournament. To top off a wonderful
year, the Ice Breakers brought home a gold medal at the NCRRL
championship, edging the other, top-ranked, GCRA Petite team
4-3 in a nail-biting final game. Way to go GCRA! See you all
next year!

AA Provincials!

Petite 2 GCRA U12 won
silver medal at Provincials! After a first game loss to a
tough team from Markham the team had 5 straight wins in the
round robin. The defence and goaltending was stingy, giving
up only 10 goals against in 6 games and earning 2 shutouts.
The explosive offence was spread out with each skater earning
at least 2 points during the tournament. The semi-final featured
a re-match with Markham. The game was back and forth. Markham
appeared to score the game winning goal when GCRA ran into
penalty trouble and had two girls in the box. But with the
goalie on the bench, GCRA scored with 22 seconds remaining
to send the game into overtime. The overtime featured several
good scoring chances at each end including a disallowed goal
for GCRA and an outstanding breakaway save by GCRA’s
goalie. Finally with 1:10 left, GCRA scored to send them to
the final! In the final, GCRA faced Ajax. GCRA dominated early
but could not get the ring in the net. Silver medals were
a great way to end the year. Congrats to all the team members
on the medals and for learning the lesson, team play is the
only way to win!
